Wi-Fi affect sperm quality

Wi-Fi affect sperm quality

Wireless connectivity Wi-Fi rather densely came into our lives, allowing access to the Internet became more accessible. But, as often happens, many achievements have come to the aid of mankind over the past half century, fraught with latent or overt threat. In particular, Wi-Fi a negative effect on semen quality.
To date, wireless Wi-Fi for a short period of time has taken a strong position in the market of electronic transmission of information. The big advantage is its user mobility. After all, for sure your Internet connection is no longer needed the wire. Now, you can often see people sitting at the bar in the park or in the clinic and looking at their laptops or monitors tablets.

Not so long ago, Argentine scientists found that the electromagnetic radiation of the standard IEEE 802.11, which is based on Wi-Fi, a negative effect on the human body, namely, the male sperm.

Specialists from the Reproductive Medicine Clinic in the city of Cordoba (Argentina) conducted an experiment, which was attended by 29 men. Volunteers were asked to submit samples of semen. One half of the sample was placed near the laptops that were connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. The other half (control) samples was placed away from areas of the wireless connection.

Four hours later, scientists have seized samples of both groups for examination under a microscope. It was found that in samples that are affected wireless Internet access, fixed sperm samples accounted for 25% of the total, while in the control group this figure was only 14%.

Another important factor is that in the experimental samples in 9% of the sperm DNA was found infringement. In the control samples of damaged sperm was only 3%.

As noted in the report, Prof. Conrado Avendano, who led the study, the habit of men to use mobile devices that are on their knees and connected to the service, Wi-Fi, can lead to a marked deterioration in the quality of sperm.
